This was commissioned by Ludovico il Moro and designed by Leonardo da Vinci, Bramante (who completed the Tower which dominates the square that was started in 1198), and other important architects, such as Luini and Gaudenzio Ferrari. The works were carried out between 1492 and 1495. It is 134m long and 48m wide. This is one of the most beautiful Renaissance squares in Italy, decorated with columns and Visconti and Sforza family medals. |
