| Founded in 1562 by Saint Charles Borromeo. The plan of Tibaldi (Pellegrino Pellegrini) was followed by Richini and Pollach. The mannerism façade bears a grotesque mask under the coat of arms of Carlo Borromeo. In the seven hundreds a picturesque Italian garden was designed including a fountain designed by Richini. Inside the Salone degli Affreschi offers several depictions of the life of Saint Charles, commissioned to the painters Nebbia and Zuccari by Federico Borromeo. |
